Origins: The images of Afghan
Hounds appear on Egyptian papyrus, and
on the cave walls of Northern Afghanistan.
These images are believed to originated
more than 4000 years ago.
Description: Afghan hounds are
tall and lean, with a long pointed nose
and aristocratic head. An afghan hounds
ears lay flat. Long legs and a long neck
give it a statuesque appearance. Afghan
hounds have a long silky coat.
Size: Afghan Hounds weigh between
45–60 lbs, they stand 24 to 29 inches
tall.

Coat: Afghan hounds have a long
and fine coat that is fawn, gold, Brindle,
White, Red, Cream, Blue, Gray and Tricolor.
Disposition: Afghan Hounds are
sweet natured. They are loyal, affectionate
animals with a low level of dominance.
They will warn of strangers but not typically
act aggressively toward them.

their name indicates Afghan Hounds are
classified as "hound dogs".
Litter Size: Afghan hounds give
birth to litters of 11 to 13 puppies.
Behavior: Afghan hounds are energetic
and require attention they require a gentle
