Origins: Canaan Dogs are one of
the oldest breeds, there are said to be
biblical references to the Canaan Dog
working for the people. The Canaan Dog
was initially bred to guard livestock.
Description: Canaan Dogs are medium
sized dog, with a square proportioned.
They are strong with an agile build. Canaan
Dogs have almond eyes, an elongated head
with erect ears.
Size: The Canaan Dog is a medium-size
dog, they weigh 35 to 55 lbs and stand
18 to 24 inches tall at the shoulder.

Coat: Canaan Dogs have a double
coat and that has straight outer coat,
and an undercoat that is thick and can
resist even the harshest of temperature
changes. Canaan Dogs are either predominately
white with a mask, with or without another
color. The mask is usually symmetrical
and covers both eyes and ears.
Disposition: Canaan Dogs are intelligent,
docile dogs that are highly trainable
and want to please. Canaan Dogs are wary
of strangers, and may be agressive with
other dogs.
Type Dog: Canaan Dogs are herd
dogs.
Litter Size: Canaan Dogs give
birth to litters of 4 to 6 puppies.
Behavior: Canaan Dogs intelligent
and wants to please, they are easy to
train, but because of their watch dog
tendencies they tend to bark a fair amount.
Traits: Intelligent, independent,
and docile.
