Origins: The Shar Pei was originally bred
as palace guards in China.
Description: Shar Peis are medium sized
dogs with an excess of skin that falls in folds
about their body. Shar Peis are muscular and have
small, triangular ears,and a high-set tail. They
have a square muzzle and snout.
Size: Shar Pei dogs weigh 40 to 65 lbs,
they stand 18 to 22 inches tall at the shoulder.

Coat: The Shar Pei has three different
types of coats: horse, brush, and bear. The "horse"
coat is rough and course. The brush coat is softer.
The Shar Pei's coat can be red, red fawn, five-point
red, black, black silver sables, black bronze
sables, sables, cream, blue, cream dilute, apricot
dilute, chocolate, chocolate dilute, or lilac.
Disposition: Shar Peis are wary of strangers,
but devoted to their families. If not properly
socialized they can become territorial and aggressive.

to litters of 4 to 6 puppies.
Behavior: Shar Peis are an independent
and a reserved breed. They rarely bark, Shar Peis
