Origins: Rhodesian Ridgebacks
were initially bred to hunt lions, and
distract the lion while the "master"
took the shot. Rhodesian Ridgebacks were
also used as guard dogs.
Description: Rhodesian Ridgeback
are large dogs that are well muscled.
They have a broad head and drooping ears,
and long thin tail.

Coat: Rhodesian Ridgebacks have
a short, dense, silky coat, with a defined
symmetrical ridge of hairs growing in
the opposite direction down the middle
of the back. The Rhodesian Ridgebacks
coat can be wheaten, red wheaten, or light
wheaten, with darker nose and ears.
Disposition: Rhodesian Ridgebacks
are calm, obedient dogs that are loyal.
While they can be fierce hunting companions
they are gentle.
