Origins: Icelandic Sheepdogs were
initially bred to herd and pull sleds.
Description: Icelandic Sheepdogs
are compact well-muscled dogs, they have
erect pointed ears, and a tail that curls.
The Icelandic Sheepdog has a short muzzle
and dark, prominent facial features.
Size: Icelandic Sheepdogs weigh
between 20 to 30 lbs and stand 12 to 16
inches at their shoulder.

Coat: Icelandic Sheepdogs have
a thick, medium-length double- coat that
comes in a variety of colors including:
tan, reddish-brown, chocolate, gray, black,
white is a prominent required color.
Disposition: Icelandic Sheepdogs
are hardy dogs, they are watch dogs and
will alert of strangers, but they are
not aggressive. Icelandic Sheepdog are
energetic and playful.
