Origins: Bloodhounds were initially
bred as tracking scent hounds to hunt
deer and wild boar. Bloodhounds are now
used to by police and law enforcement
all over the world to track people including:
escaped prisoners, missing people, lost
children and lost pets.
Description: Bloodhounds are medium
to large size dogs with loose skin, that
falls in folds around their bodies.They
are muscular and have long droopy ears
that hang down. Their black snout, is
long and squared.
Size: Bloodhounds weigh between
80 to 110 lbs, they stand 23 to 27 inches
tall at the shoulder.

Coat: Bloodhounds have short silky
coats, and excessive skin that falls in
folds. A bloodhound's coat can be black,
liver, tan, or red.
Disposition: Bloodhounds have
been known to follow a scent trail that
is more than 14 days old. This is a tribute
to their tireless dogged pursuit when
they are "on task". Bloodhounds
have a sweet disposition, and are gentle
dogs.

birth to litters of 8 to 10 puppies.
