Origins: The breed originated
in Sussex, England in 1795. The Sussex
Spaniel was first exhibited at Crystal
Palace, London, in 1862. They were initially
bred as a field and hunting dog.
Description: Sussex Spaniels have
a low compact build, and sturdy build.
Sussex Spaniels have silky long coats,
a broad head and drooping ears.
Size: Sussex Spaniels weigh 35
to 45 lbs, they stand 13 to 15 inches
at the shoulder. They have a heavy low
build.

Coat: Rich, golden liver shading
to golden at tips of hairs, with the gold
predominating.
Disposition: Sussex Spaniels are
slow, calm dogs but can have a propensity
to be stubborn. Sussex Spaniels are sociable,
cheerful and devoted dogs.
