Origins: Cairn Terriers were initially
bred in England to hunt fox and rats.
Description: Cairn Terriers have a compact
build, they are short-legged, they are longer
than they are tall. Cairn Terriers have short,
wide heads.
Size: Cairn Terriers weigh between 13
to 18 lbs, they stand 9 to 13 inches tall at their
shoulder.

Coat: Cairn Terriers have a dense, double-layered,
harsh, and water resistant coat. Cairn Terrier
are any color except white, black, and black and
tan.
Disposition: Cairn Terriers are spirited
bold, clever and scrappy. They try very hard to
please their owners, and can be overly sensitive.
They can be great pets but may be aggressive with
other pets and my chase small animals.

Litter Size: Cairn Terriers give birth
to litters with 4 to 6 puppies.
Behavior: Cairn terriers require daily
physical and mental exercise in a safe area. It
may dig, if given the opportunity.
