Australian Shepherd Traits
Australian Shepherds are athletic, with
a medium build. Australian Shepherds are
lithe and agile. Australian Shepherds
are extremely versatile, they are natural
herders of both sheep and cattle. Australian
Shepherd are 40-65 lbs an 18-23 inches
tall. Australian Shepherds have docked
tails. Male Australian Shepherds are larger
than their female counterparts.
Australian Shepherds are highly obedient
and very easy to train. Australian Shepherd
are very agile, able to pivot and change
directions instantly which makes them
the great herders that they are. They
have a double coat that is weather resistant,
with feathering along their legs stomach,
and a thick mane of fur on their chest.
Australian Shepherds are bold, confident
but do require a healthy workout daily
and they must be mentally challenged or
they can act out and become difficult.
When worked regularly they are great companions.
The Australian Shepherd’s coat needs brushing
once or twice per week.
Australian Shepherd may attemt to herd
children and small animals, by nipping
at their heels.
The life span of an Australian Shepherd
dog is typically 12-15 years.
