The Siberian Husky originated in Russia in the
1800s. The Siberian Husky is also known as the
Arctic Husky. During World War II many Siberian
Huskies served int he US Army Search and Rescue
unit.
The Siberian Husky was originally developed to
pull dog sleds. Siberian Huskies are now one of
the most popular arctic breeds.
Siberian Huskies have almond shaped eyes, erect
ears with rounded tips and a sturdy long build.
The Siberian Husky weigh 35-60 lbs and they are
20-23 1/2 inches tall. The Siberian Husky can
have brown or blue eyes or even one of each. The
Siberian Husky has a thick ruff of fur around
their neck and they have a stocky shape. The Siberian
Husky has a dense woolly undercoat with a second
outer coat of guard hairs to protect it from the
frigid climates.
The Siberian Husky is quick, athletic and strong
and a tireless working dog. Siberian Huskies are
fun-loving, adventurous, independent, clever,
stubborn, mischievous and obstinate. They require
daily running and exercise. The Siberian Husky
loves to run and has the tendency to roam, when
left to their own devices.
Siberian Huskies are social dogs that require
human or canine companionship. The Siberian Huskies
coat requires attention 1-2 days per week.
Siberian Husky dogs live 11-13 years.
