The Pug originated in China in the 1500s. Pugs have been an important part of history.
Napolean’s wife Josephine used a pug to
carry messages to Napolean when she was
imprisoned.
Pugs have square compact body, with a
smooth soft coat and strong muscular legs
and high tightly curled tail. The Pug
weighs 14-18 lbs and is 10-11 inches tall.
Pugs are known for their flat wrinkled
faces. The Pug has a soft short coat,
with fine hair. Pugs only need occasional
brushing to remove dead hair, but they
need their skin folds cleaned regularly
so they don’t have dermalogical issues.
Pugs are usually fairly tolerant of other
pets. Pugs are playful, but can be stubborn
and headstrong. They tend to be clowns
and entertainers, showing off. The pug
needs regular exercise as its prone to
obesity. Pugs do not do well in extreme
heat. The pug regularly wheezes and snores.
The pug’s typical life span is 12-15
years.
