Giant Schnauzer Traits
The Giant Schnauzer dog breed originated in Germany
in the 1400s. The Giant Schnauzer was initially bred
to drive cattle. The Giant Schnauzer is also known as
the Riesenschnauzer.
The Giant Schnauzer is the largest of schnauzers, it
has a muscular body. Giant Schnauzer’s have rectangular
body, a rectangular head , and a docked tail. The Giant
Schnauzer weighs 70-77 lbs and is 23.5-27.5 inches tall.
Female Giant Schnauzers are typically smaller than their
male counterparts.
The Giant Schnauzer can be overly rambunctious for
small children. They tend to be protective of their
families and reserved with strangers. Giant Schnauzer’s
can be aggressive toward other dogs.
Giant Schnauzer have black or salt and pepper coat.
The Giant Schnauzer has a double coat, with a soft undercoat
and a wiry outer-coat. It Giant Schnauzer’s have a “beard”
and thick eyebrows. The Giant Schnauzer requires daily
exercise. Giant Schnauzers have harsh wirey coat that
need combing once or twice per week, additionally groomers
will shape
The lifespan of the Giant Schnauzer typically 10-12
years.
