French Bulldog Characteristics
French Bulldogs originated in France
in the 1800s. The French Bulldog was initially
bred to bait bulls.
The French Bulldog is a small compact
breed with a large head and batlike ears
that stand straight up. French Bulldogs
have a low center of gravity, their bodies
are wide and they are heavy boned. The
French Bulldog s 12-16 lbs and 10-13 inches
tall. The French Bulldog has a square
head, and loose skin with lots of wrinkles.
The French Bulldogs ears stand erect.
French Bulldog tend to be clowns, entertaining
their family. French Bulldogs are sweet
and willing to please. French Bulldogs
are not friendly with strangers. Their
coat requires minimal brushing to remove
dead hair, but attention needs to paid
to their wrinkles so that sores do not
form.
The French Bulldog does not require much
exercise, and does not tolerate extreme
heat. Most French Bulldogs cannot swim.
French Bulldogs often wheeze, snore and
drool.
French Bulldogs have a life span of 9-11
years.
